R&B has been on the come up in the last couple of years. It has always been an important part of music for the last 50 years, whether that be as Soul Music or Motown, but in the past 10 years the genre’s influence has not been as impactful.
That's about to change.
British artists such as RAY BLK, Mahalia and the Grammy Award winning Ella Mai have solidified R&B's importance in today's culture. A school of music which has not been witnessed in the UK for a decade.
This is where Emiko comes in.
A young, vibrant and powerful singing hailing from West London, Emiko is still relatively new to this game. After co-signs from Masego from an episode of Emiko’s ‘Friday Feels’ series on Instagram, the singer has hit his fans with two successful singles ‘R U Down’ and the brand new single ‘Care Free’.
Myles McCaulskey sat down with Emiko to talk all things music. In this in-depth interview, they talk about musical origins, Emiko's position as an artist in today's climate and why R&B has made such a prolific comeback since 2018.
