This is NOT 97, a home for discovering new music from talented, under-the-radar artists around the world.

On each episode, three hosts and a guest meet around a table at Only NY to discuss fresh music found in the depths of the Internet. They present two tracks each, released in the last six to eight months from artists with under ten thousand followers. Discourse and context round out each show, as the team breaks down what they hear and what each sound means to them.

On today's episode we welcome Athena Koumis to the table.

Athena is the current Head of Music Culture and Curation at XITE and former editor at Spotify.

We go deep on a range of sounds like London’s 10 piece avant-Jazz collective SEED Ensemble, to New York’s own genre defying band IGBO. We discuss a mesmerizing delivery from the Long Island band Mr Twin Sister, and a cutting, deeply personal demo from an artist named Chris Miles.

We bop with Claud’s “If I Were You”, ride with Slowya.Roll’s “Broken”, and drift out of heartbreak with Baby Rose’s “Sold out” amongst more.

This Week Featuring

01 "First Impressions" by IGBO
02 "Afronaut (feat. XANA)" by SEED Ensemble
03 "Alien FM" by Mr. Twin Sister
04 "Crashed My Bike" by Chris Miles
05 "If I Were You" by Claud
06 "Broken" by Slowya.roll
07 "Sold Out" by Baby Rose
08 "Zero%" by Jean Dawson
